What is Error Code O1AAT Scam
Error Code O1AAT ScamClearview 2 1 12. refers to a scam that falsely informs the user that a virus has been detected on their computer. This is what’s known as a tech-support scam, and it’s called that because the scams urge users to call fake tech-support. This particular fake alert informs users that a virus has been detected on their computer and that they need to call the provided number to prevent the computer from being blocked. There are many tech-support scams and they all have different phone numbers for their supposed tech-support, the same scam may even have many different numbers. +1 (603) 652-1871 is one of the numbers we’ve seen for the Error Code O1AAT Scam.
When you come across the Error code O1AAT scam, you’re greeted by a message similar to this:
A virus has been detected on your computer.
Do not restart your computer.
A virus has been detected on your computer.
The infections detected indicate some malicious downloads from the internet that have caused serious problems to your computer.
Call Us Apple Support 0800-368-9743 Please contact technical support and report the following error code to a technician to repair your computer: O1AAT.
It goes without saying that the whatever this alerts claims is wrong with your computer, it’s not true. Your computer is not infected with a virus (unless it’s unrelated to this scam), and you computer will not be blocked. If you were to call the provided number, you’d connected to professional scammers who would try to get you to pay for useless services.
When you see the scam, you should ignore its contents and focus on why the pop-up is appearing. There are two explanations for this. You either were redirected when browsing a high-risk website, or your computer is infected with adware. If it’s the latter, you will need to get rid of the adware to remove Error Code O1AAT Scam from your screen permanently.
Why are you redirected to the scam
As we’ve mentioned above, you could have been redirected by the site you were visiting. Certain high-risk websites host a lot of questionable ads, and clicking on anything in those sites could trigger a redirect. When visiting adult entertainment, free streaming and online betting pages in particular, you should have adblocker enabled, in order to prevent the redirects.
If you’ve been redirected numerous times, not matter what kind of sites you were browsing, it’s very possible that you have adware installed. Adware is a relatively minor infection that usually installs alongside free software. Free programs often come with additional offers attached to it, and it’s usually adware, browser hijackers and potentially unwanted programs. Those offers are set to install alongside automatically, unless users manually prevent them from doing so. To do that, install freeware in Advanced (Custom) settings. Those settings will make all offers visible, and you will be able to deselect everything. All you need to do is uncheck the boxes of those offers.
Error Code O1AAT Scam aims to scam you out of your money
When you get redirected to the site displaying the scam, you may notice that the site looks somewhat similar to a legitimate Microsoft site. However, instead of the usual contents, this scam website displays a warning that your computer is infected with a virus which could seriously damage your computer and steal your information. A pop-up alert will also appear, claiming that you need to call the provided number +1 (603) 652-1871 to get tech-support from supposed Microsoft technicians. You are also given an error code O1AAT to give the supposed tech-support, hence why we’re referring to this as Error Code O1AAT Scam.
If you were to call the provided number, you’d be connected to people who scam others for a living. They will introduce themselves as either Microsoft or some security company that repairs computers. You would be asked to provide them remote access to your computer so they could repair your computer, according to them. However, if they do get remote access, they’ll just make it seem like they’re doing something useful. While connected to your computer, they could also steal your files. By the end of the supposed repair session, you would be asked to pay hundreds of dollars for the services. If you want to see how exactly these scams work, you can find many videos on YouTube of specialists engaging with scammers to educate people.
In the future, keep in mind that all of these “You’ve got a virus” pop-ups that appear in your browser will be scams. Every single one. Microsoft, Apple, etc., do not make unsolicited contact with their users, and they certainly do not keep track of what computer is infected and block them. Only trust your anti-malware software to inform you of viruses on your computer.

Closing malicious pop-ups can be tricky when their creators deliberately make them hard to close. For example, Error code O1AAT keeps showing a pop-up that, if you dismiss it, pops up again. Still, you can close it, though. It’s good to remember a few keyboard shortcuts to use:
On Windows, Alt+Enter switches a window between full-screen and windowed mode. On Mac, it’s Cmd+Ctrl+F. Use this to get your browser out of full screen if it’s stuck. Then close the malicious tab by pressing the little ‘X’ button at the top.
You can close a tab, too. On Windows, press Alt+F4. On macOS, it’s Cmd+W.
As a last resort, you can force your browser to quit. On Windows, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. On macOS, Cmd+Alt+Esc. This will bring up a window where you need to select your browser and then end it by pressing the button in the lower right corner.
If your computer is infected with adware and that’s what’s causing you to get redirected, you will need to get rid of the adware to delete Error Code O1AAT Scam. We recommend using anti-spyware software because the program would take care of everything for you.
